Ranking Perd Hapley 14th in the power rankings is something I am doing right now, as there are 13 people ranked above him on this list. “More money pleeeeease” and “If you say no, I will start a fire in the bathroom” are two lines I quote regularly.īye bye, Lil’ Sebastian. There are too many good characters on this show. What started as a dude just doing dentist jokes became the embodiment of terrible, lonely middle age. The episode where he welcomes Leslie and Chris into his “dojo” is an all-timer. Jeremy JammĪ character I didn’t love at first who got progressively better as the show went on. Her exasperation was often the perfect foil for Chris Traeger or Leslie Knope’s boundless enthusiasm. Could be relied on to get a laugh at any moment. Just a moment where the writers, an actor and a character all aligned perfectly. Bobby Newportīobby Newport, played immaculately by Paul Rudd, didn’t have too much time on the show, but somehow has like 10 of the most memorable lines. The killer half of the grossest morning radio show in Indiana. When Ron asks what hounds, he responds: “The Hounds is an FDA-rejected cologne I’ve been working on that makes everything smell like wet dog. I’ll never forget him announcing that they should release the hounds. Dennis Feinsteinĭennis Feinstein, aka Dante Fiero, wasn’t on the show often, but every time he was on he killed. OrinĪ show with as much brightness as Parks and Recreation needs darkness. And he was a good character, too! I don’t know how this happened, but it happened. This is absolutely insane that a character played by the funniest person in the world, Louis C.K., could be this far down the list. Walking away from Andy Dwyer and muttering “I can’t even land the shoeshine guy” was an all-timer. She was pretty, she was nice, and she was just a little too desperate to find the one. Shauna Malwae-Tweep was the stand-in for every perpetually single fan of the show. My favorite line was her looking upon the naked portrait of Newport Sr.: “Ah yes, my late husband. Her (and her dogs’) work with Ben Wyatt on the Sweetums Foundation was inspired. Jessica Wicks started out as the trophy wife of Nick Newport, Sr., but blossomed as the head of Sweetums. He didn’t always get the big laughs, but Crazy Ira and The Douche doesn’t work with the guiding hand of Crazy Ira. One half of the inimitable (just kidding, totally imitable) Crazy Ira and The Douche, Crazy Ira was more the set-up man for The Douche’s zingers. The hard-talking political consultant ran a hell of a campaign for Bobby Newport, and no, you can’t afford her. Leslie’s need for her mother’s approval faded as she got stronger as a character, and thus Marlene Griggs-Knope faded. Leslie Knope’s mother, played by Pamela Reed, was phenomenal but just didn’t get enough to do. Again, the show was still figuring things out. Wendy was Tom Haverhord’s wife because she needed a Green Card (being from Canada.) She had some memorable lines, and her character allowed us to see Tom’s sensitive side. I like Mark, but come on, this show spawned one of the great sitcom universes of all time. Mark Brendanawicz is representative of the first iteration of the show, when they were still figuring things out. Paul Schneider is the best, and his character’s failure to get any higher on this list has nothing to do with him as an actor. How could I leave out Tynnyfer?! But alas, I have like, a job, and spending my day ranking out the top 75 characters in Parks and Rec just wasn’t possible. Most of the City Council and the mayor. Champion the Dog. Every concerned citizen. The rich guy from England who loved Andy. No, this isn’t super scientific.Īnd yes, before I even get started, I know how many characters I left out. The characters are graded on A) funniness and B) importance to show. I have loved this show for a long time, and to look back, I wanted to rank the best 33 characters on the show. Parks and Recreation’s series finale is tonight.
